How to Clean Marble

There are several different ways to clean marble. For example, soapy water or sealant can make the surface shine and look new again. Or, you can use baking soda to make the surface a little softer.

Baking soda

Cleaning marble can be a challenge. Marble is a delicate and porous material that acids and abrasives can easily damage. But the good news is that you can keep your marble looking great and healthy with just a few tips and tricks.

Baking soda is a great way to clean marble. This is because it contains an alkaline agent that effectively kills germs and fungi.

Baking soda is also an affordable stain remover. The trick to using it effectively is to apply it to the stain carefully. If possible, allow it to soak in for at least 30 minutes before rinsing it away.

You can also remove stains from your marble by applying baking soda and a water paste. An excellent way to do this is to spread the paste on the affected area and let it dry for 24 hours.

When applying the baking soda and water solution to a stained marble surface, you will need a soft cloth and a lot of patience. Please don’t leave it on for more than an hour, as this can cause damage.

Dishwashing liquid

Marble is a porous stone, which means it’s prone to staining. Therefore, cleaning your marble as soon as possible after spills is essential.

Marble counters can be cleaned with a solution made of soap and water. However, it’s advisable to use a mild, pH-neutral detergent to avoid damage.

The best marble cleaning method is using a soft cloth and a diluted soap solution. Rinse the surface thoroughly with clean water and dry with a soft towel.

You can also use a baking soda poultice to clean most stains. Apply the solution to the color and let it sit for a few hours. If the color is not removed, repeat the process.

Acidic cleaners should never be used on marble. Although acids such as lemon juice or vinegar can help remove stains, they can also dull the color of the marble.

Baking soda is a powerful natural cleaner that is not harmful. However, it should be used sparingly.

Soapy water

Soapy water can be a good solution for cleaning marble countertops. However, marble is highly porous and should be treated with care. This means a suitable soap and cleaner must be used to eliminate the stain. In addition, the cleaner you use should be pH neutral and not contain acidic ingredients.

If your marble has become stained by a spill, you can use a mild liquid soap and warm water mixture to remove the residue. You may want to apply a cleaner or scrub brush for heavy grime. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth.

To clean your marble countertop, look for mild, pH-neutral dish soap. These are generally safe to use on marble surfaces. Next, choose something with softening agents, such as Palmolive, and look for a detergent that doesn’t have harsh chemicals.

You can also buy a special marble cleaner. However, these should be tested first to ensure they are safe for your marble. Some are acidic and can damage the stone.

Sealant

There are a variety of sealants that can be applied to marble. Some are water-based, while others are solvent based. They all serve to protect the stone from staining and water damage.

Marble sealing is an excellent way to extend the life of the surface. However, it is essential to remember that marble is a porous material. Therefore, it is susceptible to stains, especially from acidic materials. So, if you want to ensure that your marble remains as pristine as possible, it is best to seal it regularly.

Before applying any sealant to your marble, it is a good idea to test it on a small portion of the stone. It would be best if you did this to ensure the product is compatible with the stone’s color.

If the sealant is incompatible with the stone, it may leave a white residue or discolor it. To avoid this, you need to apply it in a skinny layer. Then, you need to wait at least 24 hours before removing it.
